Concerns on Home Schooling Benefits
I have been tossing around the idea of Cosmetology school for many years. I was curious.. because where I live I have called several salons that offer a base hourly pay of 8-9.00 plus the commission on products and tips. I am not sure.. if I will as an adult woman with two dogs.. no kids or husband be able to manage with rent, car expenses, bills and food monthly .. Because.. the tips and commission fluctuates daily, weekly and monthly. Customers can come and go. Cost Cutters said they get steady high volume. They just do hair and some.. not a lot of waxing and no nails.
Do you and others you know.. able to live and save on this and is the schooling worth it’ IT is only between this Or jobs I am not crazy about but can do IF I have to swim and not sink. Like CNA Or Pharmacy tech that pay both about 10.00-12.00 an hour where I live in the Mid West. There are areas that have spas and high end salons here in wealthier areas as well. I just want to base my decision I make on facts from those doing this and knowing others who do this and live in homes or rent and can continue to pay and not be fearful each week of what they won’t make OR.. how they can’t pay the rent.
I know no one in the business sadly to say. But.. I do know you can always add on your services by taking extra classes too that would be an added benefit. Like those permanent eye lashes. I did run into someone who had their Cosmetology license and did those lashes all day long and made a lot off that and the tips were extremely high because the lashes are expensive. She just did lashes. I also spoke to another woman who use to do Cosmetology or Skin and gave that up when she went to classes for Extreme Lash and had a solid client base. Now she does this from home.
